Hirenomics in the Community: American Heart Association
On April 25, 2015, Hirenomics employees and family members joined the American Heart Association at the Twin Cities Heart Walk. In the weeks leading up to the walk, Hirenomics employees, family, and friends helped to raise $1,750 for the association, exceeding their company goal by $750.
Accoding to the Twin Cities Heart Walk website, in 1999, the American Heart Association set a goal to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25% by 2010. The association achieved the reduction in deaths ahead of schedule, and the Association's Board of Directors approved a new goal: by 2020, to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reduing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
Hirenomics employees, family, and friends gathered at Target Field on Satuday morning to particpate in heart-healthy acitvities and watch the event's opening ceremonies, which included musical performances and more audience-interactive games. They then continued to navigate the streets of downtown Minneapolis on the Heart Walk's family walk/run.
